What Is HYROX?

HYROX is a fitness race that combines running with functional strength training. Every HYROX race follows the same format: 8 rounds of a 1 km run followed by a workout station, for 8 km of total running. The eight HYROX stations are:

  1. SkiErg
  2. Sled push
  3. Sled pull
  4. Burpee broad jumps
  5. Rowing
  6. Farmers carry
  7. Sandbag lunges
  8. Wall balls

It's a true test of endurance, strength, and mental toughness, and it rewards athletes who can keep their energy steady from the first run to the last wall ball.

HYROX Nutrition: Why Fueling Matters

A HYROX race is a long, high-intensity effort that pushes both your cardio and your muscles. That makes HYROX nutrition just as important as training. Two things matter most:

  • Steady energy: fast-digesting carbohydrates so you don't fade halfway through the race
  • Hydration and electrolytes: replacing the sodium, potassium, and magnesium you lose in sweat, which helps you avoid cramping on the sled and lunges

How Zach Fuels for HYROX With Beonixe

Beonixe is a natural energy gel alternative built for exactly this kind of effort:

  • Raw honey for fast, natural energy, with no maltodextrin, no corn syrup, and no artificial flavors
  • Electrolytes (sodium, potassium, and magnesium) for hydration
  • Dark Chocolate with 75mg of natural caffeine from guarana for a focused, clean pre-workout lift with no crash
  • Pure Raw, caffeine-free, for long training sessions and evening workouts
  • Slim tear-open packets that are easy to take in the minutes before your heat

What to Eat Before a HYROX Race

A simple HYROX race-day fueling plan:

  • 2 to 3 hours before: a carb-focused meal you've tested in training, like oatmeal, toast with honey, or a banana
  • 10 to 15 minutes before your start: one Beonixe packet for quick energy and electrolytes
  • After the race: rehydrate and eat a meal with carbs and protein to start recovery

As with any race, practice your fueling during HYROX training so race day holds no surprises.

Our First Sponsored Athlete
